EagleWood designs, supplies and installs all timber features with careful consideration given to all aspects of your project.
We can use all types of timber to build your deck. When selecting which timber to use, it’s important to consider the following:
Traffic: Once completed, your deck will be subjected to varying degrees of people traffic. For low to medium-traffic areas, it’s important to use softer timbers like Pine or Saligna. For high-traffic areas, a more durable timber like Teak; Balau or Massaranduba should be used.
Colour: Aside from the traffic, your new sundeck will be exposed to various degrees of sunlight which can be very damaging to unvarnished wood. Darker timbers like African Mahogany or black and tan Kiaat can be difficult to stain and, because of their dark colours, can generate excessive heat, especially on a hot summer’s day.
Aesthetics: As with any sundeck, the choices of which timber to choose depends on you. It is advisable though to choose timbers that match the colour schemes of your garden, depending on where your sundeck will be installed.
Only the very best timber and fixings are used, with special attention given to detail and finishing. When your sundeck is built above ground level, handrails become an important consideration in the design. Structural integrity is one of the most important safety features of all our installations and is never compromised.
